* I completed this project by myself (4 Points)
* I embedded my own Animoto video on the glog (2 Points)
* I did not use any web 2.0 tools, however almost everything on my glog is an image which i made by using Gimp. (I don’t know if that is worth any extra credit, it’s your decision) (? Points)

Also, I figured out how to embed the Glogster and have it fit in the blog correctly. You must change the scale of the image in the code in order to scale the entire image down, and then you resize it. However, it doesn’t scale down the individual images when you click on them, but it still works.

Benjamin Franklin Morals Critique

Benjamin Franklin has a list of morals he lived by, or at least tried to. He may have thought the morals he set were a basic and easy set to live by, yet I think otherwise. Out of all 13 morals, I would never really want to follow any of them to the fullest extent. I would say they are the basis of my personal morals today. They are simply too strict, they have the right idea, but Franklin takes them too far. I try to live by my basic morals which are similar to Franklin’s, yet not quite so difficult to follow. Franklin stated that he would perfect his morals one at a time, which I suppose would be the best way to ensure success of following them. Overall, Franklin set his standard too high for the average person to even attempt to follow, including myself.

All people strive to achieve their perfect vision of life, yet most do not reach their goal. I have my own ideas of what i want out of life, and i want want to achieve. First, i definitely want to start my own family that i will be able to share my life with and will love me for who i am. Second to a family, i would want a successful career. The current career i am pursuing is a career in Computer Engineering. I love computers and technology, and i want to have a career which revolves around that. I want my career to be successful and able to support all my financial needs without much struggle. I not only want a successful career, but one that i enjoy. I want to type of job that i will look forward to every day, and not just go to it for the money. Hopefully i will work for a large company developing computer parts such as Intel, or Nvidia. I also want to live a healthy life. I hope to not have any health problems and to be physically fit.

In order for me to achieve the life i really want, i am going to have to work for it. As for starting a family, i hope that will simply fall in place along my life path. As long as i’m not sheltered and anti-social, i’m sure i will have a family of my own eventually. If i plan on having a successful career, i am going to need attend college to further my education toward that career. In order for me to decide whether or not my career will be enjoyable, i need to just experience it for myself. Hopefully i don’t waste my education away toward a career that i don’t even enjoy. In order to live a healthy life, i will simply stay active. Since i enjoy playing basically every sport, it should not be too difficult for me to find something to do.

Although i am striving for my ideal life, it is possible i may not reach it. If that were to happen, i need a backup plan. I would hope that i will have a family no matter what, and i’m not really worried about not reaching that goal. However, my ideal career will be difficult to reach. If i am not able to achieve my ideal career, i will have to settle for any job i can get. As long as my job is enjoyable, that is all i really need. I also don’t think i really need to worry about not staying physically fit and healthy, because that is up to my own self discipline to decide.

Fast Fifteen: Words to Live By

Benjamin Franklin had many famous quotes throughout his lifetime, yet only a few really connect to me. One of Franklin’s quotes that connects to me is “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.” This quote essentially states that learning and getting and education have the most positive impact on life. This quote fits me because i believe the same basic idea. Acquiring knowledge and continuous learning will lead to a happy and successful life. I personally find learning to be fun and beneficial. I may not appreciate all the subjects i have in school, but i am assembling my basic knowledge from which i can build off of in my later education. This quote can also be taken quite literally, meaning without knowledge, you will not get anywhere in life, which is true. It is impossible to have a truly successful life with no knowledge at all. An investment in knowledge will surely pay off in the long run.

Fast Fifteen: 5 Things

All people strive to improve themselves throughout their life. I personally have several aspects of my life i would like to improve. First, i want improve academically. I usually do very well in school, and i’m happy with the grades i receive, and i never study for any class. However, sometimes my non-studying technique fails me, and i get a grade i am unhappy with. In order to prevent this from happening, i think i should start studying for all tests and quizzes in every class. Another academic improvement i would like to improve is procrastination. If i have a project do, i typically neglect to work on it until a day or two before it is due. I want to start working on my projects before it gets too late, and work on it over time. Homework is given to a student to reinforce what is taught in schools, yet if one does not do homework, he or she is not getting as much practice on the material. I typically do not complete the homework assigned to me unless it will be graded, and i feel that this is hurting me academically. I would like to start doing the homework assigned o me for every class. Fourth, i want to become more physically active during non-sport seasons. I play soccer in the fall, and tennis in the spring, yet during the summer and winter i hardly get any exercise since i don’t participate in practices or games. I would like to get more exercise during these parts of the year, whether it’s going for a jog, or joining a gym, i need to stay physically active during the off-season. Finally, i want to prioritize my spending of money. I currently have a source of income from a job, and i don’t spend a whole lot of money, except for the necessities. However, my most prized possession is my computer that i built, and i seem to put a decent amount of money into it, and i am currently looking to get a bit of an upgrade. This would probably cost a lot of money, and it will probably hurt my budget. I would like to begin taking a step back and looking at where my money is needed, and not simply buy things because i want them. Maybe making a budget would help control what i spend my money on. These five improvements i want to make in my life could take a long time to start, yet hopefully i will slowly improve overtime.

Fast 15: Sacrifice

Making sacrifices is part of our lives, and everyone is bound to have to make some throughout his or her life. However, less people are willing to make a major sacrifice to save something very important to themselves. Is there anything in the world you would give up your own life for? I would personally find it very difficult to give up my own life for something. However, the most important entity in my life is probably my family. Thinking about it now, i would not want to give up my own life to save the life of a family member, yet if there is a situation in my life where i am forced to make a decision to save them, or myself, i believe i would surely put my own life at risk before theirs. The thought of loosing my life does not sound at all appealing, yet loosing my family would be even more devastating. If i had to make that sacrifice and decided my own life is more important to me, i don’t think i would be able to live with myself knowing i could have saved the lives of my family members. I would feel guilty about being selfish toward my own life.

I may be willing to make a sacrifice to save my family, but i would make a sacrifice for the good of my country as well. I never was interested with joining the military, i thought it would be an interesting experience, yet i would not be willing to risk my own life. However, if i were fighting against a force on home soil which is threatening my home country and my own people, i would jump into the fight for the good of the country. Depending on the circumstances, i would make a significant sacrifice for anything important enough to me.

The Telephone and Its Technology

http://tinyurl.com/2i2i2i2i2i

http://tinyurl.com/2i2i2i2i2i

Out of all the technological inventions ever created by mankind, I believe the most beneficial to our lives is the invention of the telephone. Telephones make communication around the world available and easy to use. Before telephones, messages would have to be transported to the proper destination and it could take days. With the invention of the telephone, people had the ability to keep in touch with anyone else who had phone access as well. People who may have not seen each other in a long time would be able to talk over the telephone whether they live 2 miles apart or 200 miles apart. The telephone was the first major breakthrough in simplifying communication around the globe, and it is constantly being reinvented to help us make our daily lives easier. The invention of the telephone will give the world it’s ability to stay in contact and is constantly being improved to make communication anywhere on the planet more convenient.

http://tinyurl.com/ye3mntq

http://tinyurl.com/ye3mntq

All people around the world require the ability to communicate with anyone at a moment’s notice and want to be able to do it with ease. Before the invention of the telephone, communicating was done with written messages, which made it difficult to get news to far away places quickly. With the invention of the telephone came the ability to communicate quickly with anyone who had access to a telephone. For example, a world crisis requires quick response to help the country in need. With a written message, it would take days for another country to get the news, and by then it would most likely be too late. The telephone allows or a quick call to another country to be made, and since the telephone utilizes live chatting, an answer could be given at that same moment. During a war, communication is essential to achieve victory. Before the telephone, the military would have to send designated messengers to transport the message on foot, yet the telephone allowed commanders to contact other parts of their army at any given time which let everyone in a war know what is going on elsewhere. The invention of the telephone gives the world quick and easy communication, yet the simple family can take advantage of this wondrous invention as well.

A family that may have been divided over time is now able to keep in contact with each other using the telephone. Once telephones became popular, they started to be quite the common household item. If someone wants to talk to someone not seen in a while, simply place a call as long as he had a telephone as well. As a result, it became very convenient for people to keep in contact with basically anyone they wanted. The telephone kept relationships between people stronger because they now had the ability to talk with one another. Since people did not always stay at their home, telephone booths began to pop up all over towns and cities. The telephone booth helped people stay in contact with others even if they did not have access to their home at the moment. Although most people did not call telephone booths to reach someone in particular, it let people who were away from their home check in with their spouse or children. People all around the world utilized the new invention of the telephone to keep in contact with one another, yet people always want more, thus resulting in some reinventions of the basic household telephone.

http://tinyurl.com/y983fd5

The invention of the telephone gave the world more incite into discovering and inventing new ways to make communication easier and more convenient. The telephone formed the basis for some of today’s most useful devices. For example, the cell phone is a type of telephone that allows calls to be made wirelessly from almost anywhere. Today, almost everyone owns a cell phone and uses it at least once a day. They practically remove the need for a land line, and some people are quite obsessed with their cell phone. Since the main purpose of a cell phone is for it to be used when you are away from home, it resulted in the extinction of telephone booths. Cell phones may be much more advanced than the first telephone, but they are constantly being improved in order to make our daily lives easier. The telephone will constantly be reinvented because people will always crave the next best thing, yet no one knows what the next best thing may be.

http://tinyurl.com/yjq8ad9

http://tinyurl.com/yjq8ad9

The invention of the telephone has come a long way, reinventing itself constantly, yet what else could be done to make the next best telephone style device. Many people have experienced the fairly new touch screen technology in their phones. However, is there something better than touch screen? Maybe an entire three-dimensional display can be created. The ability phones have to use wireless technology is truly amazing, and being able to browse the web wirelessly on a phone is unbelievable. Today, phone companies are simply improving the wireless aspect by adding more speed to the connection, but maybe there is something else it can be used for. If phones received reception from anywhere on the world, it would be extremely convenient, and wireless technology has endless possibilities. The telephone has been reinvented many times, yet none of this new technology could have been accomplished or thought of without the initial invention of the telephone.

I practice a religion on a frequent basis and therefore, i do belief in a God. However, a God in my eyes may be different than a God in someone else’s eyes. I do belief that a God exists, yet I’m a little skeptical about the idea of eternal life in heaven. I tend to be more of a scientific person, and since there is no proof of a heaven, i have trouble fully believing in it. There is also no proof of a God, but i seem to have an easier time accepting that there could possibly be one. I pray before i eat and go to church very Sunday, yet i would not consider myself very religious. Just because i go and practice religion doesn’t mean i place all my faith into it. If there is a God, i wish there was a way it could be proven to me.

My Philosophy

http://tinyurl.com/y94ewy9

Throughout my life, i have established many basic morals i live my life by. My most important value is by far family and friends. Without family and friends, my life would be nothing. They are the people i feel i can talk to about anything. I can enjoy myself with my friends as well as my family. My family always supports me which keeps me always striving for success. One of my important morals in honesty. I am always honest, and over the years, i have established a strong requirement for me to be honest. It is second nature to be honest about everything. Without honesty i would loose the trust of the people i care about. Honesty is probably the basis moral i practice.
